Ripscale Predator hits the board as a 6/4 that makes blocking it a bad deal — intimidate means only artifact and green creatures can even try, and most tables won't have enough of those to stop it reliably. Six mana is real, but the guaranteed damage throughput is the point.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|

| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
In Commander, Ripscale Predator earns a slot in any green stompy or Gruul attack-matters shell that wants cheap, consistent evasion on a large body — intimidate is underrated in a format where creature types vary wildly across four opponents. Outside Commander, six mana for a vanilla-adjacent creature is simply too slow: Modern, Pioneer, and Legacy have closed games before Ripscale Predator becomes relevant, and competitive Pauper is too fast and too removal-dense for it to stick. The one format where it might see occasional casual play is Pauper Commander, where its stats and evasion are harder to match at common.

Price Context
Current price
$0.09 bulk tier
At $0.09, Ripscale Predator is deep bulk — the kind of card that shows up in bulk bins and draft chaff boxes. It won't appreciate; pick it up if you want it and don't give the price a second thought.
