Ring of Kalonia is a Commander card — full stop. In Legacy and Vintage, a three-mana equip that adds one counter per turn is far too slow against the decks you'll face, and trample rarely matters when you're being beaten by Delver of Secrets or Monastery Mentor. Commander is where the incremental value model actually works: long games, multiple upkeeps, and commanders like Kosei, Penitent Warlord or Skullbriar, the Walking Grave that turn each counter into meaningful leverage. Outside of those green-creature-centric Commander builds, there's no competitive home for it.
