Return from Extinction gets back two creatures of the same type from your graveyard for two mana — that's the whole card, and in a tribal deck it's frequently a two-for-one at instant speed. Outside of a dedicated tribal shell it's dead weight, but inside one it earns its slot.

Return from Extinction is a Commander card through and through — tribal synergies are deepest in the 100-card singleton format, and the ability to recover two pieces after a board wipe is where it earns real value. In Pauper it's legal but competes in a format where graveyard recursion is either redundant or outclassed by more powerful common options. Legacy and Vintage are non-starters; the power bar is too high for a two-mana sorcery that does nothing on the board. Commander is the only home where Return from Extinction consistently pulls its weight.

Price Context
Current price
$0.21 bulk tier
At $0.21, Return from Extinction is bulk — pick it up without hesitation if a tribal deck needs it. Bulk commons and uncommons with narrow applications rarely move in price, so don't expect this to be anything other than a cheap include forever.
