Reroute steals the target of any spell or ability and redirects it to a new legal target — for two mana at instant speed, that's a counter that punches you in the face back. It's narrow but backbreaking in the right spot, and any red deck that leans on instants or cares about spells being cast should at least consider it.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Commander is where Reroute earns its slot — four-player tables are full of single-target removal, Threaten effects, and Aura attachments begging to be turned around, and two mana at instant speed is cheap enough to hold up alongside other interaction. In Legacy and Vintage it's legal but nearly invisible; those formats move too fast and too efficiently for a reactive redirection effect to compete with Flusterstorm or Force of Will. Modern could theoretically support it in a niche spells-matter shell, but the effect is too situational to justify a slot in a format where speed is paramount. Oathbreaker mirrors Commander's multiplayer dynamics closely enough that the read is the same — powerful in theory, dependent on the table.

Price Context
Current price
$0.31 bulk tier
At $0.31, Reroute is pure bulk — easy to pick up as a throw-in and no meaningful financial risk. The price is unlikely to move unless a high-profile Commander deck puts it in the spotlight, so treat it as a free experiment.
