Requiting Hex puts a curse on a creature that redirects damage dealt to you back at its controller, and when the creature eventually dies, you draw a card — meaningful on-board pressure stapled to a draw trigger. Three mana for a conditional damage shield is fair but not efficient, so this card earns its slot only when the curse's rider is reliably triggered.

Requiting Hex is a Commander card through and through — the multiplayer environment means there's almost always an opponent with an aggressive creature worth cursing, and the death trigger has real time to pay off over a long game. In 1v1 formats like Modern, Pioneer, or Legacy, the three-mana investment for a reactive enchantment is too slow and too conditional against streamlined threats; combat tricks and removal spells do the job cheaper and immediately. Standard is the one exception worth watching: if a midrange meta develops around large, recurring attackers, Requiting Hex can pull double duty as a deterrent and a card advantage engine. Everywhere outside Commander, though, it sits comfortably on the bench.

Price Context
Current price
$0.83 bulk tier
At $0.83, Requiting Hex sits in bulk-rare territory, which is about right for a situational enchantment with a narrow competitive window. Don't expect the price to move unless a Commander archetype — curses or Group Slug in particular — pulls it into the spotlight.
