Reputable Merchant

In Commander, Reputable Merchant is a fringe inclusion in Simic or Selesnya counters decks that want redundant trigger density, but it rarely makes the cut over cards that distribute counters more broadly or at a lower rate. Across competitive Constructed formats — Modern, Pioneer, Legacy — Reputable Merchant doesn't see play; a 2/2 for three with a single-target enter-the-battlefield trigger simply doesn't meet the efficiency bar. Standard is the most charitable home, where the card pool is shallow enough that incremental power boosts on your largest threat can matter in creature-heavy midrange mirrors. Pauper is where it's most credible, since commons-level value looks different and a repeatable threat-growing trigger has more relative weight.
