Repulse bounces a creature and draws you a card — three mana to reset a threat and replace itself immediately. It's not the most efficient tempo play available, but in decks where bouncing your own permanents has upside, like Tegwyll, Duke of Splendor, the card draw makes it a genuine two-for-one.

Tegwyll, Duke of Splendor
Tegwyll, Duke of Splendor triggers a draw whenever a Faerie you control dies, so bouncing your own Faeries with Repulse stacks card advantage on top of the cantrip — you're drawing from both sources off a single spell.

In Commander, Repulse earns its slot in decks that want to rebuy enter-the-battlefield triggers or generate value from bouncing their own creatures — outside that niche, there are cleaner interaction options at three mana. In Pauper, where card selection is tight and tempo matters, Repulse has historically seen play in blue control and tempo shells as a clean way to disrupt the opponent while staying card-neutral. Legacy and Vintage have access to far more efficient interaction, so Repulse doesn't see serious play in either format. Modern and Pioneer don't get it, but the card pools there have long since moved past this effect anyway.

Repulse is a common with multiple printings, so copies are widely available and typically sell for well under a dollar. It's the kind of card you're more likely to find in a bulk bin than on a buy list — pick it up without thinking about price.
