Renegade Freighter card art
Renegade Freighter attacks as a 4/4 trample the turn it comes down, which is a real clock for three mana — but requiring a crew cost every combat is a structural tax most decks don't want to pay. It's a bulk common for a reason: vehicles have gotten much better, and this one doesn't clear the bar for competitive or focused Commander play.

Renegade Freighter sees essentially no competitive play across any format. In Commander, crewing a vehicle every turn pulls creatures away from blocking and synergy work, and a 4/4 trampler for three isn't a threat that demands an answer at that table power level. In Pauper, where the bar for three-mana commons is high and aggro decks want consistent pressure, there are faster and less maintenance-heavy options. Pioneer and Modern have both moved past early vehicle designs — newer vehicles either crew cheaper, come with better stats, or both. The only real home is a dedicated vehicle or artifact-matters Commander deck where the crew cost doubles as a synergy trigger.

Price Context

Current price

$0.15 bulk tier

At $0.15, Renegade Freighter is deep bulk — you're paying for cardboard and sleeve space, not scarcity. Don't expect it to move; the vehicle type has been heavily reprinted and upgraded, so there's no supply pressure pushing this above bulk floor.
