Relic Axe gives a creature +3/+0 and trample for one mana to equip — that's a legitimate offensive stat line at a low activation cost. The one-time cast cost of two mana keeps it accessible, but the effect is narrow enough that only decks explicitly rewarding equipment or artifact synergies should run it.

In Commander, Relic Axe competes in a crowded equipment space where most tables have already solved the question of which cheap weapons make the cut — and it rarely wins that competition outside of dedicated equipment or artifact synergy builds. In Modern and Legacy, the power floor is too high for a +3/+0 trample stick to matter; faster threats and more impactful one-drops crowd it out entirely. Pioneer is similarly unkind, where aggressive equipment decks have access to stronger options at the same price point. Relic Axe is legal across most formats but finds a real home in almost none of them.

Price Context
Current price
$0.11 bulk tier
At $0.11, Relic Axe is deep bulk — you're paying for cardboard, not scarcity. That price reflects its narrow application accurately, and there's no meaningful floor to drop through.
