Reknit regenerates a permanent and replaces itself — two effects on one green instant for two mana. It's a fine defensive tool in regeneration-matters builds, but too narrow to earn a slot in most Commander lists.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Reknit sees essentially no competitive play in Legacy, Modern, or Vintage — regeneration is a fragile protection effect in formats where exile-based removal dominates and card efficiency is everything. Commander is the only realistic home, and even there Reknit competes against unconditional protection like Swiftfoot Boots and Heroic Intervention that don't require a specific permanent type to pay off. The draw replacement keeps it from being pure tempo loss, but the ceiling is low outside decks that explicitly care about regeneration as a mechanic.

Price Context
Current price
$0.20 bulk tier
At $0.20, Reknit is deep bulk — you're not paying for power, you're paying for cardboard. Don't expect price movement; this is a niche role-player with a small audience and no scarcity.
