Regicide kills a creature of the chosen color outright — no "up to" clause, no targeting restriction based on size — for one black mana if you can match the right color. The catch is that the creature has to share a color with one you control, which makes Regicide a staple in dedicated mono-black builds and a liability in anything off-color.

In Commander, Regicide earns a slot in any mono-black deck running a critical mass of black creatures — the color-matching condition is trivially satisfied, and one mana for unconditional removal is exceptional at any table. Outside mono-black, the condition gets shaky fast; a three-color deck can still use it, but you're now dependent on having the right creature in play at the right moment. In Legacy and Vintage, Regicide competes in a field of similarly cheap removal like Fatal Push and Swords to Plowshares, so it only sees play in builds that specifically want redundancy or can't run those alternatives. Pauper is its best non-Commander home — mono-black aggro and control both field enough black creatures to fire it reliably on turn one.

$0.11 bulk tier
At $0.11, Regicide is bulk in every sense — you're paying for cardboard, not demand. It holds that floor comfortably; conditional one-mana removal with a narrow best-case rarely spikes, so don't expect movement.
