Regent's Authority puts a +1/+1 counter on each creature you control and grants them ward 1 for the turn — instant-speed, at two mana. It's a combat trick that scales with board width, and in any deck that goes wide with creatures, the ward clause alone can make it a blowout.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Regent's Authority is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Pioneer, Vintage, Pauper, and Oathbreaker. In Commander it's most at home in go-wide white decks where pumping and protecting ten creatures at instant speed can swing a combat step or survive a removal-heavy response. In Pauper, at common, it has a real niche in token or weenie aggro strategies where the ward 1 rider buys just enough friction to win through combat. Modern and Legacy have faster, more efficient ways to protect a board, so Regent's Authority rarely makes the cut in competitive lists there — but the instant speed keeps it from being dead.

$0.18 bulk tier
At $0.18, Regent's Authority is firmly bulk — the kind of card you pull from a box rather than buy. Bulk commons and uncommons with narrow applications tend to stay at this price floor indefinitely, so there's no upside pressure to watch for.
