Regal Bloodlord generates a 1/1 flying Bat token at the end of each combat where you gained life — a repeatable, low-effort engine that compounds fast in the right shell. At four mana for a 2/4 flier, the body is acceptable and the trigger is the entire reason you're here; Zoraline, Cosmos Caller decks in particular hit this trigger nearly every combat.

Zoraline, Cosmos Caller
Zoraline, Cosmos Caller's constellation of life-gain triggers fires every turn cycle, turning Regal Bloodlord into a bat factory that floods the board with evasive bodies to fuel further sacrifice or go-wide pressure.

Regal Bloodlord is a Commander card through and through — the life-gain synergy ecosystems that make it tick exist almost exclusively in 100-card singleton. In Modern and Pioneer it's too slow and too narrow; dedicated life-gain payoffs there either convert gain into direct damage or close games faster than a 1/1-per-combat clock ever could. Legacy and Vintage are non-starters for obvious power-level reasons. Regal Bloodlord is exactly what it looks like: a casual Commander piece that rewards you for doing what your deck was already doing.
