Refurbish returns any artifact from your graveyard to the battlefield for four mana at sorcery speed — a clean, unconditional effect that asks nothing of the artifact type, subtype, or cost. It's a role-player, not a staple: run it when you need redundancy on reanimation and your targets justify four mana to cheat them into play.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Commander is where Refurbish earns its keep, slotting into any white artifact deck that wants a second or third reanimation effect after Hanna, Ship's Navigator or similar recursive engines go offline. In Pioneer, artifact reanimation strategies have used it to land Ugin, the Ineffable payoffs or oversized constructs, though the competition from more efficient options keeps it fringe. Modern and Legacy have better reanimation at lower costs, so Refurbish sees virtually no play there — four mana at sorcery speed is simply too slow when the format punishes you by turn two. Oathbreaker mirrors Commander's logic: if your signature spell is reanimation-adjacent and your planeswalker cares about artifacts, Refurbish is a passable inclusion.

Price Context
Current price
$0.24 bulk tier
At $0.24, Refurbish is pure bulk — easy to pick up as a one- or two-of without any budget consideration. Bulk uncommons with narrow applications rarely move in price, so don't expect this to spike unless a future Standard-legal set builds a dominant artifact reanimator deck around it.
