Reclusive Artificer enters the battlefield and immediately deals damage equal to the number of artifacts you control to any target — that's a Lightning Bolt that scales with your board stapled to a 2/3 Human Artificer body for four mana. The rate is clunky in most shells, but in a dense artifact deck it routinely connects for five or more damage the turn it lands.

Commander is the only format where Reclusive Artificer earns a real roster spot — artifact-heavy commanders like Breya, Etherium Shaper or Daretti, Scrap Savant can easily have ten or more artifacts in play, turning the enters-the-battlefield trigger into a meaningful threat or finisher. In Modern and Pioneer the four-mana slot is brutally competitive and the payoff is too conditional to justify over established threats. Legacy and Vintage simply ignore it. Reclusive Artificer is a Commander card, full stop.

Price Context
Current price
$0.10 bulk tier
At $0.10, Reclusive Artificer is deep bulk — easy to pick up as a throw-in or grab a copy from a dollar box without a second thought. The price is unlikely to move unless a high-profile artifact commander pushes it into wider demand, but at this tier you're not buying it for the upside; you're buying it because it costs nothing.
