Reckoner Shakedown
Sorcery
Target opponent reveals their hand. You may choose a nonland card from it. If you do, that player discards that card. If you don't, put two +1/+1 counters on a creature or Vehicle you control.

Reckoner Shakedown puts an opponent in a genuine bind — sacrifice a creature or hand you two cards — for just two mana at instant speed. That forced choice is real pressure, and the floor of two cards drawn makes it almost impossible to brick.

In Commander, Reckoner Shakedown is a clean two-mana instant that either removes a creature or draws two cards — both outcomes are worth a card slot, and the instant speed lets you hold up interaction without telegraphing. In Pauper, forced-sacrifice effects at common are rare enough that the card sees play in black control shells as a flexible answer to hexproof creatures that can't be targeted by removal. Modern and Legacy have access to more efficient discard and sacrifice pressure, so Reckoner Shakedown doesn't make the cut in competitive builds, but it's fine in casual constructed. Pioneer sits somewhere in between — black has better options, but budget players running aristocrats-adjacent strategies will find it serviceable.
