Rebuild the City puts a land into play tapped and untapped everything you control — that's mana acceleration stapled to a tempo swing, all for three mana at sorcery speed. It's a real card in untap-matters and land-drop-hungry Commander builds, and bulk pricing makes the inclusion cost zero.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Rebuild the City is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Pioneer, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but Commander is the only format where it's actually worth a slot. In competitive non-rotating formats, three mana at sorcery speed for a tapped land and an untap effect doesn't clear the bar — Modern and Legacy have faster, more reliable lines. Commander is where the math changes: the untap-all clause can generate massive mana in the right shell, especially with mana dorks, Smothering Tithe tokens, or artifact mana already in play. Oathbreaker can support it in similar shells, though the smaller deck size makes every slot compete harder.

Price Context
Current price
$0.16 bulk tier
At $0.16, Rebuild the City is deep bulk — pick it up from a commons box or throw it in any order as a filler inclusion. Bulk rares with narrow applications rarely climb unless a commander or combo catapults them into demand, so don't expect movement, but at this price the question is never whether to buy it.
