Reality Spasm taps or untaps any number of target permanents — at instant speed, for X mana — and in the right shell that flexibility is a combo engine, not just a utility spell. The cost is steep: outside of Hinata, Dawn-Crowned, where each target costs a single mana less, the X-spell math only breaks even once you have significant mana floating, making it a narrow card that earns its slot in specific decks and nowhere else.

Commanders with the highest synergy

Hinata, Dawn-Crowned
Hinata, Dawn-Crowned is the definitive home: the cost reduction stacks per target, so Reality Spasm untapping a board full of mana rocks can cost a single blue-red while generating far more than it spent, enabling infinite mana loops that win the game on the spot.

Mizzix of the Izmagnus
Mizzix of the Izmagnus turns Reality Spasm into a near-free spell once experience counters stack up, and the untap mode pairs naturally with the kind of big-mana instants and sorceries that Mizzix decks are already built to chain together.

Reality Spasm is a Commander card first and nearly exclusively. The combo potential with cost-reduction commanders and mana-rock-heavy boards is exactly what that format enables, and the four-plus player game gives you time to assemble the pieces. In Legacy and Vintage it's legal but irrelevant — there are faster, more consistent ways to generate infinite mana, and Reality Spasm asks for too much setup to compete at those tables. Modern is the same story: the card exists on the legality list but sees no play. Treat Reality Spasm as a Commander-only include and evaluate it entirely on that axis.

Current price
$0.58 bulk tier
At $0.58, Reality Spasm sits in bulk territory, which is the right price for a card with this narrow a home. It holds that floor because demand is real but concentrated — Hinata, Dawn-Crowned decks want it badly, and almost no one else does.
