Razor Golem is a 3/4 vigilance artifact creature that costs six mana — but reduces that cost by one for each Plains you control, bottoming out at three. The ceiling is a three-mana 3/4 with vigilance, which is a real rate; the floor is an overcosted vanilla threat in any deck that isn't running white.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Razor Golem sees essentially zero play in competitive formats despite being legal in Legacy, Modern, Vintage, and Pauper — the affinity-style reduction is too conditional and the stat line too unexciting to compete. In Pauper it's at least theoretically interesting in mono-white aggressive shells, where Plains density is high enough to hit the three-mana floor, but better commons exist at that slot. Commander is where Razor Golem occasionally surfaces, specifically in Plains-heavy artifact or equipment builds where the discount is reliable, but even there it rarely makes cuts over stronger artifact payoffs.

Price Context
Current price
$0.12 bulk tier
At $0.12, Razor Golem is pure bulk — the kind of card you pick up as a throw-in without thinking about it. Bulk stays bulk; there's no sleeper angle here that would change that.
