Ramirez DePietro card art
Ramirez DePietro is a 4/3 first-striking pirate legend for four mana — a reasonable combat stat for the era but light on text by modern standards. The payoff is almost entirely in the name: he unlocks Dimir pirate tribal as a commander, which is the only context where he's doing real work.

In Commander, Ramirez DePietro is played almost exclusively as a commander rather than in the 99 — his stats don't justify a slot, but his legend status and Dimir color identity make him the tribal anchor for pirate builds, usually alongside Malcolm, Keen-Eyed Navigator or Breeches, Brazen Plunderer as a partner. In Legacy and Vintage, Ramirez DePietro is legal but sees no competitive play — four mana for a vanilla-adjacent creature is well below rate in formats with access to Daze, Force of Will, and the full power-level spectrum. Pauper legality is technically on the table, but again, no serious application there. He lives and dies in Commander, and even there the ceiling is casual pirate tribal rather than anything approaching high power.

Price Context

unknown tier

Pricing data for Ramirez DePietro isn't currently available in the system, but as an older Legend with narrow competitive appeal, he typically turns up in bulk or near-bulk territory — expect to find him cheaply at most local game stores or in online bulk bins. If you're building pirate tribal, the cost of acquiring Ramirez DePietro is unlikely to be the bottleneck.
