In Commander, Rakdos Trumpeter is a role-player in sacrifice and death-trigger decks — it does nothing in isolation but snowballs quietly in the background of an Aristocrats shell. Pauper is where it has the most competitive relevance, since common-legal sacrifice synergies are concentrated enough that a two-mana creature that grows off death triggers competes for a real slot. In Modern and Pioneer, Rakdos Trumpeter is simply outclassed — those formats have faster, higher-impact payoffs at the same cost, and a 1/1 that needs setup to do anything doesn't survive the speed check.
