Rain of Blades deals 1 damage to each attacking creature — a one-mana fog variant that does nothing outside of combat and almost nothing inside it. Any deck that needs this effect is better served by Fog, Darkness, or almost any other one-mana defensive spell.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t

|---|---|
| commander | legal |

| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Rain of Blades is legal in Commander, Legacy, Modern, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but legal doesn't mean playable. In Commander, one damage across all attackers fails against any board with power 2 or greater, which covers nearly every relevant threat at the table. Legacy and Vintage have access to far more efficient interaction, and Modern already outpaces what Rain of Blades can realistically stop. The only context where it does real work is against a dedicated token swarm — and even then, a wrath or a Fog effect does the job cleaner.

At $0.06, Rain of Blades sits firmly in bulk territory and will stay there — demand simply doesn't exist for a card this narrow. The price reflects the effect accurately.
