Rage-Scarred Berserker card art
Rage-Scarred Berserker enters with a -1/-1 counter on target creature — a 5/4 menace body that answers a problem creature on arrival. Six mana is a real ask in competitive pods, but in Minotaur tribal where Sethron, Hurloon General is dumping bodies and threatening combat, the enters-the-battlefield removal stapled to a relevant body earns its slot.

Sethron, Hurloon General triggers off every nontoken Minotaur entering the battlefield, so Rage-Scarred Berserker enters, shrinks a blocker, then immediately generates a 2/3 Minotaur token — two battlefield impacts from one cast.

Rage-Scarred Berserker is a tribal role-player, and that role is almost exclusively Commander. In Pauper it's a legal common, but six mana for a 5/4 with a single -1/-1 counter doesn't clear the bar in a format defined by efficient threats. Modern, Pioneer, Legacy, and Vintage all have access to far more efficient removal stapled to cheaper bodies, so Rage-Scarred Berserker doesn't see play there outside of kitchen-table builds. Commander is where it belongs — specifically Minotaur tribal, where the tribal synergies offset the cost and the on-entry debuff lines up with the aggressive game plan.

Price Context

Current price

$0.06 bulk tier

At $0.06, Rage-Scarred Berserker is pure bulk — you're paying for a sleeve and the time to sleeve it. Bulk commons with narrow tribal applications don't appreciate, so there's no reason to pick up extras speculatively; just grab one copy when you're building the Minotaur deck.
