Quasiduplicate card art
Quasiduplicate puts a copy of your best creature on the board for two mana, and the jump-start means you can do it again from the graveyard by discarding a card. It slots cleanly into combo shells — Dualcaster Mage turns any cast of it into infinite tokens — and in Hidetsugu and Kairi decks the copy trigger snowballs the commander's damage-and-mill engine immediately.

Best Commanders

Commanders with the highest synergy

01
Hidetsugu and Kairi

Hidetsugu and Kairi

71.1% of decks · synergy 0.69

Hidetsugu and Kairi's death trigger mills cards and casts the top instant or sorcery for free, so Quasiduplicate both copies the commander to generate more triggers and serves as a free cast off a mill hit — 71% of Hidetsugu and Kairi decks run it for exactly that recursive pressure.

03
Cynette, Jelly Drover

Cynette, Jelly Drover

49.3% of decks · synergy 0.47

Cynette, Jelly Drover cares about creating creature tokens, so Quasiduplicate producing a copy of a high-value creature directly advances the gameplan; nearly 49% inclusion confirms it's a staple in that 99.

04
Adrix and Nev, Twincasters

Adrix and Nev, Twincasters

40.7% of decks · synergy 0.38

Adrix and Nev, Twincasters doubles every token created, which means Quasiduplicate effectively makes two copies of the target creature for two mana — that doubling effect makes the card dramatically overperform its cost, and 41% of those decks run it.

05
Sakashima of a Thousand FacesVial Smasher the Fierce

Sakashima of a Thousand Faces // Vial Smasher the Fierce

36.9% of decks · synergy 0.36

Sakashima of a Thousand Faces // Vial Smasher the Fierce pairs Sakashima's legend-rule removal with clone effects to stack multiple powerful legends, and Quasiduplicate is one of the cheapest ways to spin up another copy of Sakashima or Vial Smasher itself for repeated damage triggers — showing up in 37% of those decks.

Format Analysis

Where it lives, where it can’t

FormatVerdict
commander
legacy
modern
pioneer
standard
vintage
pauper
oathbreaker

Commander is where Quasiduplicate earns its slot: jump-start makes it a two-spell effect in one card, and the format's singleton rule means any redundant copy effect is worth more than it would be elsewhere. In competitive Commander it fuels fast Dualcaster Mage combo lines as a cheap instant-speed piece. In Legacy and Vintage it's legal but largely irrelevant — those formats have access to more efficient clone and reanimation tools, and a two-mana sorcery that does nothing to the board state on resolution rarely survives the power-level bar. Modern and Pioneer have similar problems: creature-copy spells need a broken payoff to justify the slot, and the available payoffs in those formats haven't made Quasiduplicate a consistent player. Stick to Commander and Oathbreaker, where the jump-start buyback and token-synergy overlap are worth the real-estate cost.

Price Context

Current price

$1.31 cheap tier

At $1.31, Quasiduplicate sits at the low end of the cheap tier — it's a multi-format-legal rare with genuine combo applications, so the floor is unlikely to drop much further. It holds value relative to its power level; pay the dollar now rather than wait for a reprint to do the work for you.
