Prosthetic Injector enters the battlefield and immediately staples two oil counters onto any target permanent, doubling as both an artifact synergy piece and a counter-seeding engine for one mana. One mana for two counters on demand is a real rate — run it in any deck that cares about oil counters, proliferate, or artifact count.

Commander is where Prosthetic Injector earns its keep, slotting into Phyrexian-themed builds, proliferate strategies, and any commander that rewards stacking counters on permanents for a single mana. In competitive non-rotating formats like Modern and Legacy it's too narrow — paying a card to place two oil counters rarely lines up with what those formats demand, and it sees essentially no play there. Pioneer and Vintage are the same story: the effect is real, but the application is too parasitic without a dedicated shell. Prosthetic Injector is a Commander card through and through, and it knows it.

Price Context
Current price
$0.10 bulk tier
At $0.10, Prosthetic Injector is deep bulk — easy to pick up in a trade binder or throw into any order as a free inclusion. Bulk rares with narrow synergy profiles like this one rarely climb unless a new commander breaks the archetype wide open, so grab it cheap if the deck calls for it and don't overthink it.
