Profound Journey returns two permanent cards from your graveyard to the battlefield — at instant speed, with rebound stapled on. Nine mana is a real cost, but you're getting a two-for-one that happens twice, and the second cast is free.

Commander is where Profound Journey actually lives. Graveyard recursion at instant speed is relevant on any board, and rebound means a single resolved copy nets four permanents back across two turns — enough to swing a late game. Outside Commander, nine mana is simply too slow: Legacy and Vintage have better things to do at that cost, and Modern and Pioneer decks can't reliably reach it while staying competitive. Oathbreaker shares Commander's singleton structure, so the logic holds there, though the lower starting life total compresses games before you reach nine.

Price Context
Current price
$0.22 bulk tier
At $0.22, Profound Journey is pure bulk — you're essentially getting it for free in a trade binder or buylist sweep. Bulk rares at this price point rarely spike unless a new commander pushes demand, and nothing on the horizon suggests that here.
