Probe replaces itself, strips a card from every opponent's hand, and costs nothing if you kick it — making it one of the most efficient information-plus-disruption spells available at instant speed. At its floor it's a one-mana cantrip that reads your opponent's hand; at its ceiling it's a free wrath of hands stapled to a draw.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |

| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
In Commander, Probe shines brightest in the early turns: kicking it at the table means you're drawing a card and stripping one from each of three opponents simultaneously, all while mapping their hands for the rest of the game. The information alone justifies inclusion in any blue deck that wants to play at instant speed. In Legacy and Vintage, Probe sees play in storm shells where the free cantrip with kicker feeds storm count and strips answers before the combo turn. Pauper gives it a home in tempo and control lists where hand disruption at common rarity is scarce. Outside those formats it isn't legal, but the formats where it is legal use it well.

Price Context
Current price
$0.14 bulk tier
At $0.14, Probe is deep bulk — you're picking it out of a dollar bin or finding it bundled in a common lot. That price reflects supply, not the card's impact; it consistently does real work in the formats where it's legal and has no realistic downward pressure to worry about.
