Primitive Justice destroys up to two target artifacts and/or creatures for three mana — flexible on-board removal that scales with what you need to hit. The cost is sorcery speed and no recursion upside, but the raw flexibility makes it a clean inclusion in any red-green shell light on targeted removal.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Commander is where Primitive Justice earns its keep — the format's artifact-heavy mana rocks and creature-reliant strategies mean hitting two permanents for three mana is regularly relevant. In 1v1 formats like Legacy and Vintage, three-mana sorcery-speed removal is too slow and too narrow to compete with Swords to Plowshares and friends, so Primitive Justice sees essentially no play there. Oathbreaker shares Commander's multiplayer dynamics, and the same logic applies — if your oathbreaker is red-green, this is a reasonable budget option.

Price Context
Current price
$0.34 bulk tier
At $0.34, Primitive Justice is deep bulk — you're paying for functionality, not scarcity. Bulk removal rarely appreciates, so buy it to play it, not to hold it.
