Primal Boost gives a creature +4/+4 and trample until end of turn — enough to push through a lethal swing that would otherwise be chumped to death. The entwine cost to also untap that creature and give it vigilance is steep, but when you can afford it, the card pulls double duty as both a combat trick and a pseudo-haste enabler.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Primal Boost is legal in Commander, Legacy, Vintage, Pauper, and Oathbreaker, but it sees virtually no play in any of them. In Commander, one-shot combat tricks are generally low-value — paying three or five mana at instant speed to buff a single creature rarely justifies the card slot when you could run a piece of ramp or a permanent threat instead. In Pauper, where it is theoretically cheapest to slot in, green has access to cleaner pump spells that cost less and do more. Primal Boost is a solution looking for a problem that competitive formats have already solved elsewhere.

Current price
$0.10 bulk tier
At $0.10, Primal Boost is deep bulk — you're paying for cardboard, not the effect. Don't expect that floor to move; low demand and easy availability keep bulk commons and uncommons anchored, and nothing about Primal Boost's power level creates breakout potential.
