Pride of the Clouds card art
Pride of the Clouds enters as a creature whose power and toughness scale with every Flying permanent on the battlefield — your board and your opponents' — and it generates a 1/1 Flying token just for being cast if you control another flier. Two mana for a threat that grows automatically and replaces itself with air support is the deal; Kangee, Sky Warden decks run it without question.

Kangee, Sky Warden

Kangee, Sky Warden

23.7% of decks · synergy 0.23

Kangee, Sky Warden pumps Birds specifically, and Pride of the Clouds enters as a Bird that immediately spawns another Bird token — two targets for the commander's ability on the same cast. The free token also guarantees Pride arrives at a meaningful size in any board state where Kangee's feather counters are already distributing power.

02
Errant and Giada

Errant and Giada

18.7% of decks · synergy 0.18

Errant and Giada's angel-tribal engine floods the board with Flying permanents, which means Pride of the Clouds hits play as a legitimately large beater rather than a 2/2. Errant and Giada also cheats the casting cost of fliers into play tapped and attacking, and a big Pride swinging for free mid-combat is a closing threat that demands an answer.

In Commander, Pride of the Clouds is at its best — a 75-card flier-tribal deck can routinely put it into play as a 6/6 or larger, and the token it generates on cast scales the value before it ever attacks. In Legacy and Vintage, it's legal but too slow and too conditional for the pace of those formats; Faerie Stompy and Spirits lists that want a two-mana flier have more consistent threats available. Modern is technically where Pride of the Clouds is most interesting outside Commander, since Spirits can support the critical mass of Flying permanents needed to make it large, though it competes for slots with more synergistic tribal pieces. It sees essentially no competitive play in 60-card formats, but in Commander's multiplayer board states — where every opponent's flying tokens count toward the power toughness — Pride of the Clouds regularly outperforms its modest rate.

Price Context

Current price

$2.24 cheap tier

At $2.24, Pride of the Clouds sits comfortably in the cheap tier — easy to acquire without budget planning. Given that it shows up in nearly a quarter of Kangee, Sky Warden lists and has a clear mechanical home in any blue-white flier strategy, that price reflects healthy supply rather than low demand.
