Predator Dragon enters the battlefield as a massive flying threat that can immediately clear out your own token swarm to push through lethal damage — devour 5 means it can easily arrive as a 15/15 or larger. The six-mana cost is real, but the combination of haste and flying means the damage lands the turn it hits the table.

Predator Dragon's competitive home is Commander, where token-generating commanders make devour 5 trivially easy to fuel and haste plus flying converts a board of 1/1s into a lethal swing. In Legacy and Vintage it's a non-starter — six mana for a vanilla threat after sacrificing your own board is nowhere near the power level those formats demand. Modern is similarly hostile; Predator Dragon costs too much and asks too much for a format full of faster, more efficient threats. Commander remains the only format where the devour payoff actually materializes at the table.

Price Context
Current price
$0.59 bulk tier
At $0.59, Predator Dragon sits squarely in bulk territory and is unlikely to climb without a reprint into a high-profile precon or a sudden spike in competitive token-sacrifice lists. It's an easy include for budget Goblin or token-sacrifice Commander builds — the price will never be the reason to leave it out.
