Plague Spores destroys a nonbasic land and a creature for six mana — two permanent types removed in one shot. The cost is steep enough that it rarely makes the cut over split removal spells, but the land destruction angle is the entire reason to consider it.

In Commander, Plague Spores occupies a narrow niche: land destruction decks and stax shells that want to disrupt mana bases while picking off creatures simultaneously. Six mana is a real barrier in a format where Vindicate costs three, so Plague Spores earns its slot only when the land-destruction clause matters strategically, not as generic removal. In Pauper, where the card pool is shallow and nonbasic lands are less dominant, it sees essentially no play — the cost-to-effect ratio doesn't hold up at common parity. Legacy and Vintage have access to far more efficient destruction, so Plague Spores is a non-factor there.

$0.09 bulk tier
At $0.09, Plague Spores is deep bulk — you're paying for cardboard, not the effect. It won't appreciate; this is a card you pull from a bulk bin when you need the specific land-plus-creature removal package and nothing else will do.
