Pit Spawn exiles any creature it damages rather than letting it die — a removal effect stapled to a 6/5 first striker that your opponents have to answer or lose their best threat every combat. The cost is real: six mana, mono-red color identity, and an upkeep payment of tapping an untapped creature or sacrificing Pit Spawn itself.

Commander is where Pit Spawn has any realistic home, and even there it occupies a narrow lane — red-heavy creature decks that can reliably field an untapped creature on their upkeep to keep it alive. In Legacy and Vintage it's legal but unplayable; six mana for a creature with no immediate enters-the-battlefield effect doesn't compete in formats where the bar starts at Reanimator targets and fast combo. Pit Spawn's exile-on-damage clause is genuinely powerful against indestructible or recursive creatures, but most Commander tables have cheaper, less conditional answers available.

Price Context
Current price
$0.60 bulk tier
At $0.60, Pit Spawn is deep bulk — low demand and low reprint pressure keep it there. It's a safe pickup if you want the effect, but don't expect the price to move in either direction.
