Pit Keeper returns a creature from your graveyard to your hand when it enters — conditional on having four or more other creatures in the bin, which isn't hard to arrange in any self-mill or aristocrats shell. Two mana for a 2/1 that replaces itself with something better is a clean rate when the condition is live.
Format Analysis

In Commander, Pit Keeper slots cleanly into graveyard-value decks that expect a stocked bin by the mid-game — the four-creature threshold is trivially met after a board wipe or two, making it a reliable recursion piece at the two-drop slot. Pauper is where it sees its most competitive play: creature-dense decks can flip the condition on early and use it as cheap card advantage in a format starved for it. In Legacy and Vintage it's too fragile and too conditional to compete, since those formats demand unconditional power at every slot. Modern has enough efficient graveyard recursion at the two-mana slot that Pit Keeper rarely makes the cut.

Price Context
Current price
$0.11 bulk tier
At $0.11, Pit Keeper is deep bulk — grab a copy out of any commons box without thinking twice. The price isn't going anywhere; it's a narrow utility piece that sees enough casual Commander play to stay in print but not enough demand to climb.
