Pine Walker is a 5/4 that untaps itself whenever it becomes the target of a spell or ability you control — a solid body that punishes reactive opponents and rewards decks built around targeting their own creatures. The five-mana cost is honest for the stats, but you're only running Pine Walker if you have a reliable stream of pump spells, auras, or activated abilities to weaponize that untap trigger.

In Commander, Pine Walker fits narrowly into Voltron or tap-based green decks that can consistently target their own creatures — think Rishkar, Peema Renegade counters synergies or Skullbriar, the Walking Grave aura stacks, where the untap trigger turns combat math into a recurring headache for opponents. Outside Commander, Pine Walker has never carved out competitive space: in Modern and Legacy, a five-mana 5/4 with a conditional untap trigger simply doesn't clear the bar, and Pioneer offers no shell where it belongs. It's a casual Commander card through and through.

Price Context
Current price
$0.10 bulk tier
At $0.10, Pine Walker is deep bulk — you're not paying for it so much as finding it in a draft chaff box. Don't expect that to change; the card has no competitive demand and no spike potential, so $0.10 is effectively the floor and the ceiling.
