Piety Charm card art
Piety Charm offers three narrow modes — give a creature first strike until end of turn, return an enchantment to its owner's hand, or pump a Cleric +2/+2 until end of turn — none of which justify a card slot in most builds. The flexibility doesn't compensate for the ceiling: all three modes are underpowered even by Charm standards.

Format Analysis

Where it lives, where it can’t

FormatVerdict
commander

oathbreaker

Piety Charm sees essentially no competitive play in the formats where it's legal — Commander, Legacy, Vintage, Pauper, and Oathbreaker — because each of its three modes falls below the baseline for those environments. In Commander, the enchantment-bounce mode has niche appeal in white Enchantress or flicker-style decks that want to reset their own auras, but dedicated pieces do that job more reliably. Pauper is the one format where a three-mode one-mana instant could theoretically matter, but the modes don't align with any established aggressive or controlling shell. Across the board, Piety Charm is a trivia answer, not a staple.

Price Context

Current price

$0.13 bulk tier

At $0.13, Piety Charm sits firmly in bulk territory and is unlikely to move — low demand and low reprint risk are both working against any price appreciation. Pick it up if a specific build genuinely needs one of its modes, but don't expect the price to justify holding copies speculatively.
