Phyrexian Scuta is a 3/3 trampler for three mana that becomes a 6/6 trampler if you pay three life or kick it the hard way — that's a legitimately large body at a legitimately low cost. The catch is that the kicker costs losing a land drop, which makes it a build-around rather than a free upgrade.

In Commander, Phyrexian Scuta fits best in black decks that monetize life payments — Oloro, Ageless Ascetic and K'rrik, Son of Yawgmaw shells treat three life as a discount, not a cost.
