Phantasmagorian is a free 6/6 trampler that puts itself into your graveyard by letting opponents discard three cards — a steep tax that makes it a discard-synergy engine first and a beater second. In the right shell, the self-mill angle is the whole point; outside of it, you're just giving your opponents a free three-card outlet.

Phantasmagorian is a Commander card through and through — the political dimension of handing opponents a three-card discard outlet is manageable in a four-player pod in ways it simply isn't in one-on-one formats. In Legacy and Vintage it's theoretically legal but competes with a powered card pool that has no interest in a six-mana 6/6 with conditional self-deployment. Commander is where the discard synergies, graveyard recursion, and Sauron-style opponent-discard payoffs give Phantasmagorian a real home.

Price Context
Current price
$0.25 bulk tier
At $0.25, Phantasmagorian is deep bulk — you're paying for cardboard, not scarcity. It's a safe pickup for any discard or reanimator build because the price floor is already the floor; don't expect it to move.
