Pestermite card art
Pestermite enters tapped or untapped, taxes an opponent's resource on arrival, and then enables an infinite combo with Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker the moment you assemble both pieces. The cost is three mana for a 2/1 with flash — the rate is modest, but the combo ceiling makes that irrelevant.

Obyra, Dreaming Duelist triggers on every Faerie entering the battlefield, turning Pestermite's flash body into a free ping at any opponent — and because Pestermite untaps a permanent on entry, it sets up loops with other Faerie synergies that Obyra rewards immediately.

In Commander, Pestermite earns its slot almost entirely on the strength of the Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker combo — flash lets you assemble it at instant speed on an opponent's end step, which is a meaningful safety valve against interaction. In Pauper, Pestermite is a legitimate staple: the tap-or-untap trigger disrupts tempo at a format-appropriate rate, and flash at common is genuinely rare. Legacy and Vintage both have access to Pestermite but rarely need it — faster combo infrastructure makes the three-mana body redundant. Modern once featured it heavily in Splinter Twin decks, but that era ended with the ban of its best enabler, leaving Pestermite as a fringe piece in creature-based combo shells.

Price Context

Current price

$0.21 bulk tier

At $0.21, Pestermite is firmly bulk — the price reflects widespread reprinting and the fact that it doesn't move formats on its own. It holds that floor comfortably; a card that completes an infinite combo and sees Pauper play rarely craters further.
