Pearl Dragon is a six-mana 4/4 flyer with a tap-to-untap trick — the kind of stats and effect that were passable in 1994 and have been outclassed by a decade of power creep since. There are better six-drop dragons at every price point, and better ways to generate untap value in white; Pearl Dragon doesn't do enough of either job to justify a slot.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t

| pioneer | not legal |

| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
Pearl Dragon is legal in Commander, Legacy, Vintage, and Oathbreaker, but legality and playability are different conversations. In Commander, a 4/4 flyer for six needs a significant upside to compete — Pearl Dragon's activated untap ability is too narrow and mana-intensive to qualify. Legacy and Vintage have no interest in a six-mana creature this fragile and fair. Oathbreaker shares Commander's threat bar, and Pearl Dragon doesn't clear it there either.

Price Context
Current price
$0.53 bulk tier
At $0.53, Pearl Dragon sits firmly in bulk territory, which is accurate to its power level. It won't appreciate — there's no competitive demand driving a rebound, and reprints are irrelevant when copies already sit in bulk bins.
