Parallel Evolution doubles every token on the battlefield — yours and your opponents' — for five mana, with a flashback that lets you do it again for six. In token-heavy metas that effect is often asymmetric enough to close games, but the symmetry clause means Gor Muldrak, Amphinologist is its spiritual home: Gor forces opponents to make Salamander Warriors, so you're the one who actually wants the board to double.

Gor Muldrak, Amphinologist
Gor Muldrak, Amphinologist gives every opponent a Salamander Warrior on their upkeep, so when Parallel Evolution resolves, you double a board that opponents didn't choose to build — netting you the political damage while they do the doubling for you.
Format Analysis

Parallel Evolution sees essentially all of its play in Commander, where token strategies are ubiquitous and the symmetry clause is easiest to exploit. Legacy and Vintage both have access to it, but five mana at sorcery speed with a symmetrical effect is too slow and too risky against the interactive density of those formats — it doesn't see meaningful play in either. Commander is where the math works: multiplayer tables almost always have someone running tokens, and the flashback turns one card into two doubling effects across a long game.

Price Context
Current price
$4.26 cheap tier
At $4.26, Parallel Evolution sits at the low end of the cheap tier — reasonable for a card with a unique doubling effect and built-in flashback. It's niche enough that demand stays narrow, so the price is unlikely to spike outside a specific Gor Muldrak, Amphinologist breakout.
