Orcish Hellraiser card art
Orcish Hellraiser puts two damage on any target the moment it enters — a 2/2 body with a free Shock stapled on, all for two mana. The echo cost is the entire trade-off: pay again on your next upkeep or sacrifice it, which is a real downside unless your deck is built to exploit it.

In Commander, Orcish Hellraiser earns its slot specifically in Goblin tribal, Purphoros ping, or sacrifice-outlet decks where the echo clause is either irrelevant or intentional fuel — outside those homes, a vanilla 2/2 with a conditional upkeep cost is too low-impact for a 100-card singleton format. Pauper is where it actually competes on rate: two mana for a body plus a Shock is efficient enough for red aggro or burn-adjacent strategies that can afford to let it die. Legacy and Vintage are non-starters — the card is simply too fair for formats that can goldfish a kill on turn one or two. Modern has better two-drops at every angle, so Orcish Hellraiser won't find a home there either.

Price Context

Current price

$0.10 bulk tier

At $0.10, Orcish Hellraiser is deep bulk — you're paying for cardboard and shipping, not the card. It's unlikely to move off that floor given how narrow its homes are and how many printings exist.
