On the Job creates a tapped Worker creature token and replaces itself with a card that lets you cash that token in for a permanent — a two-card engine stapled to one mana that trades setup for inevitability. On the Job is a Commander card through and through — the slow, two-step payoff is too clunky for formats where games end on turn four. In Modern, Pioneer, and Legacy it's simply outclassed by faster token generators and tutors that don't require a second card to close the loop. Pauper is the one non-Commander format where it might see a fringe role in a dedicated tokens shell, since both halves are common and the cost is trivial.
