Old One Eye card art
Old One Eye lands as a 6/6 trample that immediately spawns a 3/3 token and draws a card — that's three lines of value stapled to one body, and the death trigger means Nim Deathmantle loops are brutally clean. The Swarmlord decks run it at over 74% inclusion for good reason: it's one of the most efficient payoffs a Tyranid shell can assemble.

The Swarmlord

The Swarmlord

74.7% of decks · synergy 0.72

The Swarmlord pairs with Old One Eye so naturally it borders on mandatory — the token trigger feeds Swarmlord's counters-matter engine, and the cantrip on death means you're never trading down when the creature gets answered.

Magus Lucea Kane

Magus Lucea Kane

32.5% of decks · synergy 0.30

Magus Lucea Kane wants the biggest bodies it can copy, and Old One Eye's base power makes it an excellent doubling target — two triggers, two tokens, two cards drawn is the kind of excess that Lucea Kane shells are built to generate.

Old One Eye is a Commander card through and through — the multiplayer context is where a 6/6 trample with a token and a cantrip justifies seven mana. In Legacy and Vintage, where it's technically legal, the competition at that mana cost is absurdly stiff and nobody is casting it. Commander is the only format where Old One Eye is doing real work, specifically inside tyranid tribal and +1/+1 counter synergy shells where every trigger compounds.
