Old Hob, Alleycat Blues floods the board immediately — a three-mana 2/2 that generates a free 1/1 Cat token every time you cast a spell, turning any spell-heavy turn into a token avalanche. The rate is real, and in a token or go-wide shell it pulls well above its mana cost.
Format Analysis

In Commander, Old Hob, Alleycat Blues slots cleanly into any Jeskai, Mardu, or mono-red token strategy that already wants to chain spells — each cantrip or removal spell adds a body to the board for free. In Standard and Pioneer, the payoff is real in spell-heavy aggro or token midrange decks where the token count compounds quickly across a three- or four-turn clock. Modern has faster and more redundant token engines, so Old Hob competes for a slot rather than owning one. Legacy and Vintage don't need it — the power ceiling is too low for those formats even though it's technically legal.

Price Context
Current price
$0.14 bulk tier
At $0.14, Old Hob, Alleycat Blues is firmly bulk — it costs almost nothing to pick up and slot in. Bulk rares with genuine constructed and Commander upside occasionally creep up with exposure, but at this price the floor is already the floor; you're just getting a good card cheap.
