Odylic Wraith hits the table as a flying, swampwalk threat that forces opponents to discard whenever it deals combat damage — consistent disruption stapled to evasion. The cost is a five-mana 3/3, which is simply too slow and too small for most Commander tables where that rate gets outclassed by turn three.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | not legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
In Commander, Odylic Wraith occupies a narrow slot in dedicated discard strategies — think Tinybones, Trinket Thief or Liliana, Heretical Healer builds where every forced discard triggers additional payoffs. Outside that archetype, a 3/3 for five with conditional evasion and a damage-dependent discard trigger can't compete with the raw card advantage engines the format demands. Legacy and Vintage are non-starters; both formats have access to far more efficient disruption and wouldn't give Odylic Wraith the time of day. Oathbreaker is the one other format where it's legal, and the same discard-synergy caveat applies — run it if your signature spell rewards emptying opponent hands, skip it otherwise.

Price Context
Current price
$0.32 bulk tier
At $0.32, Odylic Wraith sits firmly in bulk territory, so the financial barrier to trying it is essentially zero. Don't expect the price to move — casual discard synergy pieces at this power level rarely develop secondary-market demand.
