Nullhide Ferox puts a 6/6 hexproof body on the table for four mana, but the self-imposed restriction — you can't cast noncreature spells unless you pay two extra — is a real operational cost in any deck that leans on instants, sorceries, or artifacts. It's a sideboard hammer against discard strategies that occasionally bleeds into main decks, not a generically powerful threat.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
In Commander, Nullhide Ferox is a fringe inclusion: the hexproof and discard immunity matter less in a singleton format where targeted discard is rare, and the noncreature tax is genuinely punishing in a format built around big sorceries and utility spells. Modern and Pioneer are where it has seen the most action, specifically as a sideboard answer to Liliana of the Veil and other hand-attack strategies — a 6/6 hexproof that replaces itself when discarded is a clean answer to that axis. Legacy has better options at every point on the curve, and Nullhide Ferox rarely sees play there. In Oathbreaker, the same Commander-format logic applies: the tax clause costs more than it's worth unless your spell suite is almost entirely creatures.

Price Context
Current price
$0.26 bulk tier
At $0.26, Nullhide Ferox sits firmly in bulk territory despite being a mythic rare — its narrow application keeps demand low. The price is stable given its sideboard-only reputation; don't expect movement in either direction.
