Nezumi Shadow-Watcher is a 1/1 for two mana that taps to destroy target Rat — a narrow, on-board answer to exactly one creature type that sees almost no Commander play. The activation cost and the specificity of the target make this a sideboard card without a sideboard.
Format Analysis
Where it lives, where it can’t
| Format | Verdict |
|---|---|
| commander | legal |
| legacy | legal |
| modern | legal |
| pioneer | not legal |
| standard | not legal |
| vintage | legal |
| pauper | not legal |
| oathbreaker | legal |
In Commander, Nezumi Shadow-Watcher is unplayable in all but the most Rat-tribal-heavy metas, and even then you'd want a more broadly useful removal piece. Legacy and Vintage are non-factors — neither format runs creature-removal at this level of inefficiency. Modern has marginally more Rat presence with Rat Colony and Swarm decks, but a tap-to-destroy activation on a 1/1 body is far too slow to matter. Oathbreaker faces the same verdict as Commander: the effect is too narrow to earn a slot.

Price Context
Current price
$0.23 bulk tier
At $0.23, Nezumi Shadow-Watcher sits firmly in bulk territory and will stay there — demand is negligible and supply is plentiful. The price is fair for what it does, which is to say you're paying bulk for a bulk card.
