Nesting Wurm card art
Nesting Wurm enters as a 3/3 and immediately populates your board with three 1/1 Wurm tokens — four bodies for five mana is a real rate. The problem is that five-mana sorcery-speed creature slots in green are brutally competitive, and Nesting Wurm offers no evasion, no immediate protection, and nothing to do if the tokens are irrelevant.

Format Analysis

Where it lives, where it can’t

FormatVerdict
commander

oathbreaker

Commander is the only format where Nesting Wurm is realistically worth considering, and even there the bar is specific: token-doubling shells with Parallel Lives or Anointed Procession can turn three 1/1s into six or twelve, which is the only context where this card pulls its weight. In Legacy and Vintage, where it's technically legal, it has no competitive application whatsoever — the power level gap is too wide. Nesting Wurm needs a deck that both wants many small tokens and can't afford better five-drop token generators, which is a narrow ask.

Price Context

Current price

$0.22 bulk tier

At $0.22, Nesting Wurm is deep bulk — you'll find it in a commons box before you'd ever pay for it. That price reflects demand accurately; this is a niche role-player at best, and bulk is exactly where it belongs.
