Necrogen Spellbomb card art
Necrogen Spellbomb makes an opponent discard a card for one black mana, then replaces itself for another one mana — two effects stapled together at a total cost of two. It's a fine role-player in discard-matters builds, irrelevant everywhere else.

In Commander, Necrogen Spellbomb earns its slot in dedicated discard or Spellbomb-synergy builds — think Breya, Etherium Shaper artifact recursion or Tinybones, Trinket Thief value engines — but single-target discard is too low-impact for the 99 in anything else. Pauper is where Necrogen Spellbomb sees its most competitive daylight, slotting into Affinity shells that want cheap artifacts with upside and don't mind the incidental discard. In Legacy and Vintage the card is technically legal but never correct — there are better discard spells and better zero-drops for artifact count.

Price Context

Current price

$0.15 bulk tier

At $0.15, Necrogen Spellbomb is pure bulk — grab a copy out of any commons box without thinking twice. Demand is narrow enough that the price has nowhere to go; buy it for the deck, not the collection.
